San Jacinto County, TX — January 24, 2025, One person was killed and many more were injured following an 18-wheeler accident that occurred Friday morning on FM 1725.

An investigation is underway following an 18-wheeler accident that left one person dead and injured dozens more during the morning hours of January 24th. According to official reports, an 18-wheeler tanker hauling sulfur dioxide overturned on FM 1725 near FM 3081 causing the chemicals to spill out of the truck. The hazardous substance caused two dozen people, mostly children that passed through the area on a school bus, to receive medical treatment for exposure to the substance.

When first responders arrived on the scene they found that the truck's driver had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. At this time it is unknown what caused the accident, however this remains an ongoing investigation and more details such as the identity of the driver and the status of those affected by the chemical exposure, may be revealed in the future.
