With this happening in daylight hours on a major roadway, it seems likely to me authorities will be able to find and identify the truck driver that left this scene. While one shouldn’t rule out the possibility the driver somehow failed to realize something went wrong, it’s also important to consider they left the scene because there was something they didn’t want authorities to know about.
I’ve seen this happen plenty throughout my career. Truck drivers who aren’t properly licensed, who have a history of accidents, who have warrants or issues with drugs or alcohol—and trucking companies willing to put them behind the wheel when they shouldn’t. Once authorities have identified the truck driver responsible for all of this, investigations need to continue into why that driver left the scene and if there’s more to this story than meets the eye.
