John Kinsey, Monica Nunez Killed in Car Accident in Houston, TX
UPDATE (January 3, 2023): Recent information from local officials appears to identify the woman killed in the crash as Monica Nunez. The cause of the crash is still unclear at this time.
Houston, TX -- December 25, 2022, John Kinsey and another person were killed due to an accident where a vehicle crashed at Baldwin Park.
Initial details in the news describe the crash as a single vehicle accident at Baldwin Park in the area of Jackson Street and Anita Street. It happened at around 11:30 p.m., details suggest. In the vehicle were a man and a woman, and it appears the car somehow ran off-road and crashed into a tree. The man in the vehicle died in the crash and has since been identified as John Kinsey. The woman in the vehicle died following transport to a hospital, and her name remains unconfirmed.

Police have yet to say what happened here, and I can only hope they're being as thorough as possible. I find too often that folks simply read about single vehicle wrecks and immediately blame the drivers. Common or not, it's important to consider other possibilities.
There are people out there who lost their loved ones on Christmas of all days. That alone should make getting them answers a top priority, and that doesn't happen if people just blame the victims without actually having all the facts.
That's why I take the time to remind people that these crashes can be incredibly complex, and they need to be handled by experienced accident reconstructionists that consider even unlikely possible factors. Otherwise, there's no telling what important details could slip through the cracks.
