Police did not release additional details, but this information seems far from answering all the questions I have--questions I think others should be asking, too.
To put it bluntly, 9 times out of 10 when folks come to me about crashes where they hit a truck making a wide right turn, investigations show that the collision happened because the truck driver was making an unnecessarily dangerous maneuver. There are companies out there that would fire a driver for making a turn like this without having a co-worker flag down traffic. So what exactly are we missing here?
What was visibility like? Was the truck's turn signal on? How fast was the motorcyclist going? Have maneuvers like this caused problems before at this location or with the trucking company involved? I certainly can't say one way or the other what ultimately happened here, but experience tells me there's likely a lot more to this story authorities aren't addressing adequately.
