Fabian Martinez, Teen Injured in Single-car Accident on I.H. 30 in Hunt County, TX
Hunt County, TX — April 27, 2025, Fabian Martinez and a teenage girl were injured in a single-car accident at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Interstate Highway 30.
According to authorities, 34-year-old Fabian Martinez and a 14-year-old girl were traveling in a westbound Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck on I.H. 30 in the vicinity east of F.M. 1565 when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the pickup truck failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a traffic attenuation device.
Both Fabian and the teen reportedly suffered serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When crashes like this happen—particularly single-vehicle collisions involving roadside safety equipment during early morning hours—it’s easy to assume the driver simply drifted off course. But in my experience, especially when serious injuries are involved, it’s critical to ask what caused the vehicle to veer in the first place. The collision on I-30 involving Fabian Martinez and a teenage passenger raises several unanswered questions that demand careful scrutiny.
First, did investigators thoroughly examine the conditions on and around the highway? At 1:00 a.m., visibility is a serious concern, and even minor obstructions or poor lighting can have major consequences. Were the lane markings clear? Was the traffic attenuation device properly placed and visible? Could environmental factors like glare, road surface conditions, or unexpected detours have contributed? These factors are critical to establishing whether the crash was influenced by the road environment rather than simply a driving mistake.
Second, has anyone looked into whether a mechanical failure in the Dodge Ram 2500 might have caused the crash? A sudden issue with the steering system, braking components, or tire integrity—particularly in a larger vehicle—can easily cause a loss of control. Likewise, if the truck’s lane-keeping or stability systems malfunctioned, the driver may have had little chance to correct course. Identifying these failures requires a forensic examination of the vehicle before any repairs or cleanup take place.
Finally, has all available electronic data been preserved and reviewed? The Ram 2500 likely includes an event data recorder that logs critical information in the seconds before a crash—speed, throttle input, braking, and steering corrections. That data could help clarify whether the driver attempted to avoid the attenuation device or whether the vehicle failed to respond as expected. Investigators should also consider GPS data, dashcam footage, and nearby surveillance to reconstruct what led up to the impact.
Answering these three questions is critical to making sure that no stone is left unturned in understanding the causes of a crash like this. Serious wrecks deserve serious investigation, not assumptions. Getting clear answers to these questions is crucial for those seeking to understand what happened and why—and it's the least that can be done to help those affected find the clarity and closure they deserve.
