Commentary on Abshir Jama Elmi, Amarillo Man Truck Accident Deaf Smith County
When it comes to a serious crash like this, a concern I have is that it all may be overwhelming for the authorities. This isn't to say it's because they're bad at their jobs. It's simply that commercial truck wrecks are complex, and one this serious is likely to leave an even more chaotic scene behind. Independent accident reconstructionists, then, become a valuable ally in getting folks clear answers, even if those answers were entirely unexpected.

A while back, for example, I was looking into a crash where police though a man ran a stop sign, leading to a deadly t-bone collision. Further investigations, however, revealed something highly unusual. TxDOT removed those supposed stop signs earlier that day while working at the crossing, but they forgot to replace the signs when they left for the day. So how exactly did someone run a stop sign that wasn't there?
That's the sort of thing that authorities simply aren't equipped to look into immediately following a serious crash. Whether something obvious or incredibly strange led to this crash, steps should always be taken to ensure the victims and families involved have as much evidence as possible so they can get the help they deserve.
