Deaf Smith County, TX -- October 28, 2022, Abshir Jama Elmi and an Amarillo man were injured due to an accident with two semi-trucks.

In initial details given, it appears that the crash took place at around 6:30 p.m. along FM 1062 at FM 809.

Officials said that 61-year-old Abshir Jama Elmi was in a Freightliner tractor trailer headed eastbound on FM 1062. An unidentified 43-year-old Amarillo man was in a northbound Western Star truck. At the intersection, the Amarillo man hit the side of Elmi's tractor trailer as the latter crossed FM 809. Both trucks then overturned off-road.

Both Elmi and the Amarillo truck driver were said to have incapacitating injuries due to the crash. The exact factors causing the crash have not been confirmed at this time.

It's simply that commercial truck wrecks are complex, and one this serious is likely to leave an even more chaotic scene behind.
