Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I don't necessarily expect authorities to have all the answers so soon after a serious accident. But motorcycle wrecks can be particularly complex simply because folks are less willing to believe the victim may not have done anything wrong.
Simply put, a lot of people are quick to assume all motorcyclists are reckless drivers. I know from years of working with riders and their loved ones that most motorcyclists are very safety conscious. They, too, can fall victim to things like tire blowouts, mechanical defects, road hazards, medical emergencies, and other unpredictable factors. But if a negative bias leads authorities to move on too quickly, they may leave the victim's family with unanswered questions. Hopefully they're being diligent here to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
