Alabama Man Killed, Ruskin Man Injured in Truck Accident on U.S. 41 in Hillsborough County, FL
Hillsborough County, FL — May 6, 2023, an Alabama man was killed and a Ruskin man was injured following a truck accident at around 2:43 a.m. on U.S. 41.
Preliminary details about the truck wreck given by Florida Highway Patrol officials say the crash took place near the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Bloomingdale Avenue.

Authorities reported that a 49-year-old Montgomery, Alabama man was in a gas tanker truck traveling along the highway. Due to events not entirely clear, authorities believe a sedan somehow crashed into the back of the gas truck while attempting to "overtake" it. The collision sparked an explosion from the tanker truck.
As a result of the accident, the Alabama trucker succumbed to fatal injuries. The car ran off-road and overturned. That driver, said to be the 23-year-old Ruskin man, had injuries described as serious. No further information about the factors leading up to the crash are available at this time.
