Alberto Castillo Injured in Truck Accident on Veterans Memorial Dr. in Harris County, TX
Harris County, TX — February 23, 2024, Alberto Castillo was injured in a truck accident at approximately 1:40 p.m. along Veterans Memorial Drive.
According to authorities, 25-year-old Alberto Castillo was traveling in a southbound Kia Sorento along Veterans Memorial Drive in the vicinity south of the Blackpool Lane intersection when the accident took place.

This resulted in a T-bone collision between the left side of the truck and the front end of the Kia.
Castillo incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck; he was transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
A common mistake that occurs in crashes where it appears one driver is at fault is that the investigation doesn't go beyond the crash scene. That's unfair to the drivers involved, particularly when a commercial vehicle is involved. Why is that? During my decades of litigating truck accident cases, I've seen how company policies on scheduling and driver assessments can influence a driver's behavior on the road.
Many trucking companies maintain rigorous schedules that may inadvertently prompt drivers to take unnecessary risks in order to adhere to timelines. These risks can manifest as speeding, skipping necessary breaks, or neglecting vehicle safety checks, thereby increasing the likelihood of accidents. While specific details about the company involved in this incident are not disclosed, such practices are not uncommon in the transportation industry.
Additionally, understanding the driver’s condition at the time of the accident is paramount. Questions arise such as whether the driver was experiencing fatigue or was distracted in any way. It is critical not to assume guilt before a thorough investigation, yet these are essential aspects that require scrutiny. The responsibility for ensuring that truck drivers are well-trained, rested, and free from undue pressure should be shared equally between the drivers themselves and their employers.
All of this is to say that in order to get the truth behind what really caused a crash, it's important that the investigation doesn't stop at the crash scene.
