Durham, NC — December 14, 2025, Alfredo Sanchez Soto was killed as the result of an 18-wheeler accident at around 6:10 p.m. along I-85.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened along southbound lanes of the interstate in the area of the US 501 exit.
Investigators said that 32-year-old Alfredo Sanchez Soto was in a vehicle going along I-85. In events which aren’t clear right now, the vehicle crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler. Due to this, Alfredo Sanchez Soto sustained fatal injuries.

People often see a rear-end collision and think of that old misconception that a driver who hits the back of another vehicle is automatically at fault. That’s just not how the law works. It’s important to know why that happened. There are plenty of reasons someone might rear-end an 18-wheeler without doing anything wrong. Roadway hazards, brake failure, getting cut off, a trailer without lights, etc. Likely or not, investigations should cover all possible factors, not just what’s most likely. Families who lose a loved one at least deserve to know they’re getting the full story.
