Brownsville, TX — November 20, 2023, a child was injured following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 3:26 p.m on Central Boulevard.
According to officials, the incident happened at the intersection of Central Boulevard (Business 77) and Wild Rose Lane.
It appears that a Ford Focus was going northbound on Central. At the light, authorities say the Ford went through a red light and crashed into an oncoming pickup making a protected left turn. Due to this, a 9-year-old child in the Focus had incapacitating injuries. Neither driver had reported injuries.

In their statements, authorities allege that the driver of the Ford Focus was under the influence of alcohol. If that’s true, it’s just a shame to see alcohol continue to wreak havoc on Texas roads. I not that long ago handled a personal injury case against a bar because a drunk driver they illegally over-served seriously injured a young child.
In that particular crash, the drunk driver was drinking with co-workers at happy hour. By the time he left, he could barely stumble out the door, let alone to his car. Unfortunately, he made it to his car, drove into oncoming traffic, and hit a family’s car head-on. Needless to say, there are some differences between that series of events and what happened here. But it may surprise people to see how often drunk driving accidents end up having a lot in common. Could the same be true here?
