Child Injured in Carnival Ride Accident in Waco, TX
Waco, TX — April 6, 2024, a child was injured after a carnival ride accident involving an allegedly impaired ride operator at the Extraco Events Center.
According to current statements, the incident occurred at around 8:00 p.m. and it involved an 8-year-old boy. Reports currently say that the child was on a carnival ride and somehow fell, causing the boy to suffer unspecified injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities allege that the carnival ride operator was under the influence when the accident occurred. They recommended a charge for intoxication assault due to the boy's injuries. Additional details are unavailable right now.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
To be blunt, carnivals are not often paragons of rule following or safety. If there even was some kind of supervision or chain of accountability, how exactly did they allow someone to be intoxicated while responsible for people's safety? Are there others who are dangerously operating other rides? Was it foreseeable that this would happen? There are still many unanswered questions, so hopefully authorities don't limit their efforts to charging one single person. Preventing this from happening again could require further action.
