Analisa Marie Saenz, 5 Injured in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident in Weslaco, TX
Hidalgo County, TX — January 21, 2024, Analisa Marie Saenz and five others were injured following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 1:00 a.m. on F.M. 88.
Authorities said in their initial statements that the collision occurred at the intersection of Farm-to-Market 88/Texas Boulevard and West 6th Street.

Details at this time say that 33-year-old Analisa Saenz was in a Honda Pilot along with a 38-year-old man, a 34-year-old man, and two children, ages 10 and 8. They were reportedly going westbound on 6th Street and stopped for the light at Texas Boulevard. After the light changed, they proceeded across, but a southbound GMC Acadia reportedly ran the light and crashed into them.
Due to the collision, Saenz and the four passengers in Saenz's vehicle had apparently moderate injuries. The driver of the GMC had reportedly serious injuries. Right now, that GMC driver is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Authorities recommended a charge for intoxication assault.
One thing I have yet to see is if authorities are investigating where the alleged drunk driver may have been prior to the accident. Folks don't often realize drunk drivers may be just one part of the story. It's important they're held accountable, but if they were illegally over-served by a local alcohol provider, it's just a matter of time before another drunk driver comes along to get more people hurt.
I checked out some of the alcohol providers near the crash scene, and a few of them showed up in the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission's public database for violation investigations. One establishment was even investigated for allegedly over-serving customers. Could it be that one of these establishments over-served this driver? If so, there may need to be a lot more than a TABC investigation for them to learn their lesson.
