Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I find that despite how common pedestrian accidents are, people don't typically give them the attention they deserve. Even authorities can be quick to boil everything down to who had the right-of-way. As important as that is, there are other possible factors to consider. What was lighting like? Is there a lack of signage or broken signals? Is the area of the accident notoriously dangerous for pedestrians? Are there other extenuating circumstances authorities aren't used to handling?
Likely or not, it's important to consider all possibilities when it comes to getting answers for a victim's loved ones. My hope is authorities here were more thorough than usual and ensured the family here gets the whole story.
