Man Injured in 18-wheeler Accident on Eastex Fwy in Houston, TX
Houston, TX -- November 1, 2022, one person was injured due to an accident where an 18-wheeler and a car collided on Eastex Freeway.
Investigators said that the incident happened just after 7:00 a.m. along the southbound lanes of the freeway near Liberty Road.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are unclear at this time. Authorities say that an 18-wheeler driven by a 61-year-old man and a Nissan driven by 35-year-old Antony Quarshie somehow sideswiped each other. Details suggest both drivers blame the other. At this time, the 18-wheeler driver was listed as having incapacitating injuries. This and other details, including Mr. Quarshie's condition, cannot be confirmed at this time.
Commentary on 18-wheeler Accident at Eastex and Liberty in Houston
To be blunt, I have serious concerns about how reliable these initial details are. First of all, authorities outright admit they don't know what happened. Drivers given conflicting statements all the time, but a proper investigation can usually suss out what actually happened. On top of that, however, it's incredibly unusual that the person worse off in a collision like this is the truck driver.
Any injuries at all, let alone serious ones, while the driver of the car is apparently unscathed just isn't common--not impossible, of course, but not very likely. I always talk about the importance of thorough independent investigations after a truck wreck to make sure authorities didn't mix anything up or miss something important. This crash isn't likely to be the exception, and in fact it's probably the perfect example of a crash victims and families should put in the hands of independent professionals.
