Aunika Maes Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident in Hockley County, TX
Hockley County, TX — May 2, 2023, Aunika Maes was fatally injured as the result of a single-vehicle car accident that happened at around 6:00 p.m. along Highway 114.
Preliminary details about the crash say that it happened in the area of the Highway 114 and Gull Road intersection, which appears to be just east of Levelland.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety officials, 18-year-old Aunika Francine Maes was in a vehicle that was traveling eastbound along the highway. For reasons currently unclear, the vehicle somehow left the roadway where it went through a ditch, then overturned.
As a result of the single vehicle wreck, Maes sustained injuries that eventually proved to be fatal. No others were said to have been involved in the fatal crash. Authorities have not yet released additional details about the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
