Barney James Barnett Killed in Work Accident in Roscoe, TX
Nolan County, TX — November 4, 2021, Barney James Barnett sustained fatal injuries due to an accident on a work site in the area of FM 608.
Authorities with the Occupation Safety and Health Administration said that the incident happened at around 2:15 p.m. on a site associated with Cholla Petroleum, Inc. The site was called "Foxtrot 1H," which only records possibly show to be off the southeast corner of FM 608 and FM 157, several miles south of Roscoe.

Initial details from OSHA said that 26-year-old Barney Barnett was on an oil and gas site doing cleaning work on a gas line. While working to connect a swivel and pipe, a chain used to lift the swivel somehow wrapped around Barnett several times. Officials say Barnett died due to blunt force injuries.
Exact details remain unconfirmed right now, but OSHA details showed at least two suspected violations, one labeled as "serious". The "Current Penalty" recommendation in the reports appears to be at least $10,000, but the status of the investigations is unclear at this time.
