Bettie Jo Tarango, 1 Injured in Car Accident in Brownfield, TX
Brownfield, TX — January 13, 2023, Bettie Jo Tarango and another person were injured following a car accident at around 3:13 p.m. along Lubbock Road.
Investigators released preliminary details about the accident, which authorities say happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62/Lubbock Road and U.S. 380/Tahoka Road.

According to officials, 36-year-old Bettie Jo Tarango was in a Volkswagen Atlas traveling southbound on Lubbock Road crossing over the Tahoka intersection. While doing so, police believe that the driver of a westbound pickup experienced a medical episode, leading to the pickup going through a red light. It then crashed into Tarango's vehicle.
Tarango was said to have incapacitating injuries due to the wreck. Two children in Tarango's vehicle did not have reported injuries. The other driver was said to have non-incapacitating injuries, but it's unclear if this was in relation to the crash itself or the apparent medical condition. No further information can be confirmed at this time.
