Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

People might be quick to assume this all is open-and-shut, but workers and families affected by a crash like this need to know that all possible angles are getting thorough attention. It’s not just about obvious possible factors, such as distracted or drunk driving. It’s also about examining the work zone, visibility equipment, road conditions, and also potentially navigating Texas work fatality law, which is more complex than in any other state in the country.

Maybe authorities are being especially diligent getting answers about what took place here. However, there may need to be more thorough independent investigations from professionals who can take into account the full scope of what may have contributed to this accident. Even if it’s just out of an abundance of caution, the victims and families involved here deserve to know they’re getting the whole story.
