Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

If authorities weren’t ever able to locate the runaway driver here, did they put the word out to local businesses and work sites? A truck pulling a trailer could very well be a work-related vehicle. Landscaping, construction, pool maintenance—if this vehicle was local to the area, someone might recognize a description.

A lot of the time, that’s what helps solve hit-and-runs. When authorities are as public as possible with the details, someone is bound to connect the dots. That way, steps can be taken not only to see accountability for the vehicle leaving the scene but also for whatever led them to flee in the first place. Even if this accident remains unresolved, there’s still hope that continued efforts could yield new results.
