Rockwall County, TX — January 18, 2024, Gary Don Taylor was killed as the result of a car accident at around midnight on Highway 205.
Authorities said in their preliminary statements that the crash happened in the area of Pullen Road. It appears the exact time of the crash is unclear because it wasn’t found until after authorities received calls for a missing person.
It appears that 60-year-old Gary Taylor was in a Ford Ranger going northbound along the highway. For reasons unconfirmed, the vehicle drifted out of its lane. It then veered to the left where it spun out, ran off-road, and vaulted into a partially frozen pond.

After they found the wreck, officials pronounced Taylor deceased at the scene. Right now, factors leading up to the crash remain unclear.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It appears authorities don’t currently have any witnesses, and obviously the victim isn’t here to tell his side of the story. This is why single-vehicle wrecks can end up being some of the most complex ones to investigate properly. When there’s no one to steer investigators to a starting point, it’s up to the evidence to speak for itself. Getting that evidence usually requires an investigator to have years of experience, state of the art crash reconstruction equipment, and ample time to get the job done the right way.
Unfortunately, when left without clear answers, some investigators will just assume the victim did something wrong. While driver error is undeniably common, it’s irresponsible to make those assumptions and not rule out other possibilities, likely or otherwise. Investigators could look into something like a manufacturing defect time and time again, and they may never find anything. But that one time they overlook it and just assume the driver was being reckless could be the time they end up blaming someone for an accident they couldn’t possibly avoid. Feel free to ask any family looking for answers about the death of a loved one if they think that’s a risk worth taking.
