Houston, TX — February 6, 2026, Kevin Lazo Chicas was killed and one other was injured following a car accident at 12:00 a.m. along Shadowdale Drive.
Initial statements on the accident say that it took place near the intersection of Shadowdale Drive and Hammerly Boulevard.
According to Harris County officials, 29-year-old Kevin Lazo Chicas and a 19-year-old man were in a vehicle going southbound on Shadowdale. Somehow, the vehicle lost control. It ran off-road where it crashed into a house patio.
Due to the accident, Kevin Lazo Chicas sustained fatal injuries. The passenger had injuries. Right now, further information is unavailable.

People often jump to conclusions after single-vehicle wrecks, but they can involve very complex factors. It’s important that investigations cover everything from cellphone use to road hazards to tire failure to vehicle defects. Likely or unlikely, the evidence should speak for itself. That’s why when families feel that authorities aren’t giving a crash the attention it deserves, they tend to look for independent investigators who can pick up the slack. In my experience, families don’t want any easy answer. They want to know they’re getting the full story. That only happens through careful analysis and considering all possibilities.
