Miami, FL — January 16, 2026, Mordehay Grunberger was killed as the result of a dough mixer accident off of NE 163rd Street.
According to initial statements on the accident, it happened off the corner of NE 163rd Street and NE 12th Avenue at the South Florida Kosher Market.
Investigations say that 71-year-old Mordehay Grunberger was working as a pastry chef at the store. In events which are unclear, an accident occurred involving an industrial dough mixer. Due to this, Mordehay Grunberger was killed.

I just want to be clear that I don’t know anything more about this accident than what’s available in the news. However, I can’t help thinking about the fact this happened to a 71-year-old head pastry chef—someone who was likely very experienced in their line of work. With that in mind, have their been inspections into the machinery itself to see if some sort of defect or malfunction caused the accident? Maybe this was just a sudden, unavoidable accident, but those details right now just don’t add up to me.
