Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-run Accident on Broadway St. in Houston, TX

Houston, TX — January 2, 2026, one person was killed following a car versus pedestrian accident at around 6:00 p.m. along Broadway Street.

Investigators said that the accident happened in the area of the Broadway Street and Brockton Street intersection.

Authorities said that a man was on foot at the time, reportedly crossing Broadway in a crosswalk. While doing so, authorities say that a black SUV struck the man. That resulted in the man suffering fatal injuries.

Right now, authorities say that the SUV left the scene, and no arrests have been reported. Investigations continue.

Have authorities canvassed the surrounding area for cameras which may have captured the runaway vehicle on video? A lot of businesses and even residences these days have security cameras, and it’s important to secure that evidence before it’s erased or overwritten. Doing so could help authorities release images to the public that can lead to an identity and ultimately accountability for the accident. The sooner, the better.
