Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People often just brush off single-vehicle accidents like this and attribute everything to the driver’s actions. Don’t get me wrong—a driver’s behavior always warrants investigations after a car accident. However, jumping to conclusions only risks letting something important slip through the cracks.
Did a tire blow out? Did the vehicle brakes fail? Did a lane assistance or automatic driving feature malfunction? Was there some kind of medical emergency? Are there maintenance issues with this stretch of highway? Was there another reckless driver who fled the scene?
At the end of the day, it’s not about making excuses. It’s about letting the evidence speak for itself. That means considering all possibilities so that nothing important slips through the cracks. It remains to be seen if authorities have given this crash that kind of attention.
