Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
While people tend to think car accidents are generally straight forward and simple, it's important to know that all possible factors are getting thorough attention. Otherwise, something unusual might slip through the cracks.
For example, it's a red flag that only one person was apparently seriously injured here. While not exactly common, this is sometimes a sign that the victim's vehicle may have had a defect. A faulty airbag or seatbelt, for instance, may have failed to prevent serious injuries. It can take close examination from experienced specialists to properly rule that out or confirm it through clear evidence. That's not something authorities generally have access to.
That's why I have to wonder if this incident ever got the attention it deserved. It's possible authorities already took steps to ensure the victim and their loved ones felt they were getting the whole story. But if not, then it's possible more thorough independent investigations would reveal new details that initially went overlooked.
