9 Injured in Bus Accident on Johnson Bridge Rd. in Burke County, NC
Burke County, NC — April 9, 2024, nine people were injured in a rollover bus accident at approximately 7:30 a.m. along Johnson Bridge Road.
According to authorities, a school bus was traveling westbound on Johnson Bridge Road near Old North Carolina Highway 10 when the accident occurred.

The causal factors that led to the accident remain unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the school bus lost control before veering off of the right side of the roadway. There, it reportedly crashed into a ditch and overturned, coming to a stop resting on its roof. At least one of the bus's occupants was ejected over the course of the accident.
The driver and eight of the students who had been on board at the time of the incident incurred injuries of varying severity. One victim had to be flown to an area medical center in order to receive immediate treatment; the remaining victims were transported to local medical centers by ground ambulance.
