According to reports, the incident involved a Greyhound bus in the Riviera area going eastbound along Highway 285. At U.S. 77, police say that a southbound 18-wheeler ran a red light and crashed into the bus.
As a result of the collision, roughly 39 people on the bus were injured, three seriously. Identities were not provided. Police investigators recommended there be consequences for the truck driver allegedly falsifying their logs in addition to running the light.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
These are beyond serious issues, and evidence confirming these allegations would no doubt warrant appropriate consequences. But an allegation of a false log may raise even more serious concerns beyond the bounds of the crash itself. Why is that?
I've handled many commercial vehicle wrecks where a professional driver is accused of making a procedural mistake of some kind. That can be things from poor maintenance to violating hours of service to driving with a suspended license, etc. The reason that can be particularly concerning is because many of those situations involved a driver that repeatedly engaged in negligent behavior and a company that willingly or negligently allowed them to do so.
If a company is too inept to know their drivers are being reckless or if they otherwise encourage them to behave as such, that can warrant consequences far more severe than what one might see after a typical truck wreck that only involves some sort of isolated mistake. Is that something authorities have been careful to look into here?
