Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It's not exactly unusual for details to be scarce immediately following a serious and chaotic accident. However, it's important to follow up early on and make sure authorities continued working behind the scenes to get answers. Sometimes, departments end up rushing officers and forcing them to move on to other work before the officers have had a chance to really dig into the details. If victims and families find that authorities aren't able to come up with clear answers to their questions or concerns, that can be a sign that independent investigators need to step in and look for important information that might be slipping through the cracks.
