Commentary by Michael Grossman
With a single-vehicle crash like this, it's important to make sure investigators are actually being thorough. It might surprise people how often authorities get a crash like this, look at only the surface-level details, and just move on. This can leave victims and families in a position where the only way to be sure all the facts are being brought to light is to have independent investigators dig into things. Maybe authorities here have been more thorough—that would certainly be good to hear. In my experience, though, that's just not something anyone should take for granted.
