San Antonio, TX — April 6, 2023, a driver sustained apparently serious injured due to a car accident at 11:00 a.m. at the UIW pedestrian bridge.
Preliminary information about the crash says it happened off the corner of the U.S. Highway 281 and Hildebrand Avenue intersection. The incident involved the University of the Incarnate Word Sky Bridge that crosses main lanes of the highway.

Right now, the exact cause of the crash remains unclear. Authorities said only that a truck was going along the highway at the time when the vehicle somehow lost control. As a result, the vehicle ended up running off-road where it crashed into a portion of the pedestrian bridge.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to a hospital. Their injuries were described as serious. It appears no one else was harmed in the crash. Currently, factors leading up to the crash remain unclear, and it's unclear what the status of police investigations is at this time.
