San Antonio, TX — March 13, 2024, Cayden Mercado and three others were hurt following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 12:30 a.m. on W.W. White Road.
Authorities said that the collision happened at the intersection of South W.W. White Road and Rigsby Avenue.

According to officials, 19-year-old Cayden Mercado and two other teens were in a Chevy Silverado going northbound on W.W. White Road. At Rigsby, a westbound pickup reportedly ran the light and crashed into the Silverado Mercado was in. Both vehicles were sent off-road as a result.
Due to the collision, Mercado reportedly had serious injuries. The other two in the vehicle with Mercado had moderate injuries. The other driver was also hurt.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Authorities allege that other driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time. If that's true, is that the only person responsible for this crash? Or, did a local bar help cause this crash, as well?
Put simply, drunk driving crashes at this time of day tend to involve drivers who were illegally over-served by a bar or some other alcohol provider. So if they played a role in a serious crash, they, too, can be held accountable for that. Unfortunately, authorities sometimes put too much focus on the alleged drunk drivers, and those alcohol providers slip through the cracks. If the people affected by this crash are going to see justice done for the harm they suffered, shouldn't all parties responsible for that harm be held accountable? I've yet to work with victims or families that felt keen to let someone who hurt them off the hook.
