Authorities said the crash happened in the area of the Southwest Freeway and Bryan Road.

It appears 36-year-old Ceciley Ortiz was in a Nissan Altima going southwest along the roadway. A Chevy Avalanhe was going northwest when it reportedly ran the light. As a result, the vehicles collided.
Ceciley Ortiz and two children in her vehicle had serious injuries. The other driver was also seriously injured while a passenger had moderate injuries. Authorities did not release additional details.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a crash causes serious injuries to multiple people, the need for clear, objective evidence becomes even more urgent. In situations like this, where right-of-way violations are suspected, it’s critical that the facts aren’t left to word-of-mouth alone.
Was the crash scene documented thoroughly and immediately? Were traffic signal timing records pulled and surveillance footage reviewed? Did investigators recover crash data from either vehicle?
Without that kind of evidence, it’s easy for important facts to get lost—or for conclusions to be drawn based on incomplete information. Victims and families deserve more certainty than that.
Key Takeaways:
- Crashes involving suspected red light violations require careful documentation.
- Signal timing data and surveillance footage can be essential.
- Vehicle data can help clarify who had the right-of-way.
