Brownsville, TX — October 24, 2023, Celestion Serna Jr. was injured as the result of a single-vehicle accident at around 3:30 a.m. on Barnard Road.
According to initial details about the accident, the crash took place at the intersection of Barnard Road and West Price Road.
Investigators said that 46-year-old Celestino Serna Jr. was in a Cadillac Escalade traveling eastbound on Price. While attempting a left turn onto northbound Barnard, the vehicle somehow went off-road and crashed into a light pole. Serna reportedly had serious injuries as a result. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the crash.

To be rather blunt, crashes like this rarely get enough attention, and it’s worth considering whether or not authorities were thorough in their investigations. It’s not that I see specific information that gives me pause. Rather, single-vehicle wrecks make up a significant portion of the calls I get from victims and families who feel they’re not getting the answers they deserve. Maybe investigations into this crash were more thorough, but it wouldn’t be the first time if initial investigations came up short.
