Chantalle Rahaman and Two Minors Injured in Truck Accident in Uvalde County, TX
Uvalde County, TX — March 15, 2023, Chantalle Rahaman, a 14-year-old, and a 16-year-old were injured in a truck accident around 7:32 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 90 in Uvalde County.
According to authorities, a Kenworth semi-truck and trailer were facing westbound on U.S. Hwy. 90 when it attempted a left turn in front of Chantalle Rahaman's Lincoln Navigator.
The Kenworth reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way and Chantalle Rahaman's Lincoln Navigator attempted an evasive action by swerving into the westbound lanes of traffic. The Kenworth then reportedly began backing up causing Chantalle Rahaman's Lincoln Navigator to strike the back passenger side of the Kenworth's trailer.
A westbound Peterbilt semi-truck then veered into the outer lane of traffic to avoid the collision but struck debris. Chantalle Rahaman's Lincoln Navigator reportedly simultaneously attempted a second evasive maneuver back into the eastbound lanes of traffic to avoid a collision with the westbound Peterbilt semi-truck.
The second evasive maneuver sent Chantalle Rahaman's Lincoln Navigator across all eastbound lanes, through a roadside ditch, through a barbed wire fence, and into a collision with a tree.
Official report Chantalle Rahaman and the 14-year-old suffered minor injuries, the 16-year-old suffered serious injuries, and the two truck drivers were uninjured.
Police recommended charging the Kenworth driver with Failure to Yield ROW (TXTRC 545.152).
