Monroe County Sheriff, Rick Ramsay, was interviewed by Keys Weekly, and he claims the truck crashed into an unlit construction barrier. In fact, Sheriff Ramsay claims he warned the Department of Transportation about the construction zone’s unlit equipment more than a month prior to the accident. Is this true? And if so, why didn’t the DOT do anything about it? Moreover, is there some construction company out there that thinks it’s acceptable to leave unlit barriers in the middle of a highway? There are still many unanswered questions, but if evidence can confirm the statements the sheriff gave to the news, there needs to be some kind of accountability.
