Cindy Torres, Jose Resendez, 4 Others Injured in Truck Accident in Rusk County, TX
Rusk County, TX — March 11, 2023, Cindy Torres, Jose Resendez, and 4 others were injured in a truck accident around 7:10 a.m. on Hwy. 315 in Rusk County.
Officials report a Chevy Equinox, a semi-truck, and a Chevy Tahoe were all headed southwest on Hwy. 315 approaching the intersection with F.M. 95 when the Chevy Equinox slowed to make a left turn off of Hwy. 315 onto F.M. 95. Cindy Torres, Jose Resendez, and 3 other passengers were reportedly in a Ford F-150 traveling northeast on Hwy. 315 prior to the collision.
As the Chevy Equinox was attempting a left turn, the semi-truck reportedly honked its horn and swerved right. The Equinox then completed its left turn in front of Cindy Torres's and Jose Resendez's F-150. The F F-150 attempted evasive maneuvers by swerving to its left but collided with the end of the southeast-bound semi-truck and trailer. Then the F-150 collided almost head-on with the Chevy Tahoe.
According to authorities, witnesses suspect the tractor-trailer may have been following too closely to the left-turning Equinox, so it is unclear what caused the Equinox to make the sudden turn. Additionally, authorities report the semi-truck did not stop after the crash.
Cindy Torres and two minor passengers reportedly suffered serious injuries. Jose Resendez and an infant reportedly suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Chevy Tahoe reportedly suffered serious injuries.
The crash is still under investigation, and there are no further updates at this time.
