Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
A multi-vehicle crash is rarely simple to investigate, so it's important to make sure authorities actually dedicated enough time and effort into preserving evidence. It can surprise folks when they go to authorities for answers only to be left with unanswered questions and doubts. Sometimes, officers just aren't given the time or tools they need to get a complete picture.
When that happens, independent investigators may need to step in to get additional details. Their efforts may ultimately show that authorities already did a good job. Or, they may reveal that authorities missed crucial details. At the end of the day, victims and families need to be sure they're getting the full story. Preliminary investigations alone might not be enough.
