Vernon County, MO — May 5, 2023, Clinton Stacy was killed and another person was injured following a tractor-trailer accident at around midnight on U.S. 54.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol gave preliminary details about the deadly truck wreck. Their reports say that the crash took place at approximately 12:06 a.m. about four miles west of El Dorado Springs.
Initial details from state police investigators show that 30-year-old Clinton Stacy was the driver of a Chevy Silverado traveling eastbound along the highway. For reasons currently unclear, an oncoming tractor-trailer driven by a 33-year-old man apparently crossed the center line. This caused Stacy’s vehicle and the tractor-trailer to collide.
Stacy had fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the tractor-trailer was reportedly taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Their current condition is unavailable. Right now, it’s unclear if authorities are considering charges or citations. They have not provided a specific cause for the crash at this time.
