It may seem obvious to say that a deadly crash like this deserves a careful, thorough investigation. I see time and time again, though, how single-vehicle accident slip through the cracks because they aren’t always seen as a high priority. Police departments only have so much time and resources to split between all of their responsibilities, and a lot of families can find themselves still asking the same questions weeks after a crash that they were asking on day one.
That’s one of the reasons it can be helpful for families to follow up with authorities as soon as possible after an accident like this. If authorities can address all of their questions and concerns, that’s a good sign the investigations are being handled properly. But if authorities can’t provide any clear answers, it may be best to bring in a new set of eyes to look things over and ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
