Daniel Bright Killed, Farooq Jan Injured in Motorcycle Car Accident on MoPac in Austin, TX
UPDATE (August 22, 2024): Additional reports have been released which identify the man who lost his life as a result of this accident as 23-year-old Daniel Bright. No additional details have yet been released. The investigation continues.
UPDATE (August 19, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify some of the details as far as what happened leading up to and during this accident. According to these reports, this wreck took place in a work zone that had all but the far-left lane of northbound MoPac blocked off. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a motorcycle occupied by a 23-year-old man from Scottsdale, AZ, collided with the rear end of a Toyota Highlander occupied by 34-year-old Farooq Jan. This collision apparently threw the motorcyclist to the ground where he was struck by a hit-and-run, white, four-door sedan. Jan sustained suspected moderate injuries due to the wreck, as well. No additional details are currently available. The investigation remains ongoing.
Austin, TX — July 28, 2024, one person was killed following a motorcycle versus SUV accident at around 3:30 a.m. along N. MoPac Expressway.
According to authorities, one person was traveling on a motorcycle on the North MoPac Expressway in the vicinity of North Capital of Texas Highway when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a collision took place between the front-end of the motorcycle and the rear-end of an SUV. The impact caused the motorcyclist to fall to the ground where they were reportedly struck by a second vehicle. The second vehicle allegedly fled the scene, the person(s) inside failing to stop and render aid of any sort to the victim.
The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries as a result of the wreck, according to reports, and was declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
