Danny Hendrix Injured in Motorcycle Truck Accident on U.S. 87 in Wilson County, TX
UPDATE (May 2, 2024): The man who was injured due to this accident has been identified as 42-year-old Danny Hendrix.
Wilson County, TX — March 5, 2024, one person was injured in a motorcycle versus truck accident at approximately 6:45 a.m. along U.S. 87.
According to authorities, a 42-year-old man was traveling on a westbound motorcycle on U.S. Highway 87 approaching the County Road 357 intersection when the accident took place.

The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been foggy and wet. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, an eastbound 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow attempted a left turn onto northbound C.R. 357 at an apparently unsafe time. As a result, the westbound motorcyclist was forced to go into a side skid in an attempt to avoid a collision. However, the motorcycle still made contact with the undercarriage of the 18-wheeler's trailer and his leg was run over.
The motorcyclist incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. He was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
In dissecting the scenario, the question of why the truck driver chose to make that left turn despite the fog and the presence of an oncoming motorcyclist is paramount. These are conditions where the risk to others significantly escalates, and the decision to turn must be justified by clear, safe circumstances—which, in this case, it seems it was not.
My focus is on the truck driver’s duty of care—a legal obligation to avoid actions that could foreseeably cause harm to others. This duty becomes all the more pressing when handling a vehicle that, by its very size and operation, could impose grave consequences on smaller road users like motorcyclists.
The investigation into this accident should, therefore, extend beyond the immediate moments leading up to the crash. It needs to examine whether the driver was sufficiently trained to handle such conditions and whether the trucking company had enforced the necessary safety protocols. This isn’t just about fault; it’s about understanding the layers of responsibility that might have been compromised.
From a legal perspective, ensuring that the investigative process is thorough and detailed is crucial, as it will reinforce the necessity for stringent safety standards among commercial drivers.
A push for accountability should be made where it is due, as in this case. Each case like this sharpens our collective focus on what it means to share the road responsibly, reminding us that the decisions made behind the wheel of a large truck can change lives in an instant.
