Wilson County, TX — March 5, 2024, one person was injured in a motorcycle versus truck accident at approximately 6:45 a.m. along U.S. 87.

According to authorities, a 42-year-old man was traveling on a westbound motorcycle on U.S. Highway 87 approaching the County Road 357 intersection when the accident took place.

The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been foggy and wet. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, an eastbound 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow attempted a left turn onto northbound C.R. 357 at an apparently unsafe time. As a result, the westbound motorcyclist was forced to go into a side skid in an attempt to avoid a collision. However, the motorcycle still made contact with the undercarriage of the 18-wheeler's trailer and his leg was run over.

The motorcyclist incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. He was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
