David Hundley Killed in Bicycle, Truck Accident on Beechnut Street in Houston, TX
UPDATE (May 9, 2023): Recent reports have identified the man killed in the truck accident as David Hundley. Details in the news indicate that David Hundley and his nephew Anthony were crossing the roadway at the time. Anthony reportedly said that "it was clear" as Hundley crossed, but it's possible the tow truck may have been speeding when it struck Hundley.

Houston, TX — May 7, 2023, a man was fatally injured following a bicycle versus truck accident at around 9:05 p.m. along Beechnut Street.
Authorities with the Houston Police Department said that the incident occurred in the area of the Beechnut Street and Braewick Drive intersection, just off Hillcroft Avenue.

From their initial reports, it appears that a 67-year-old man was riding a bicycle along the southbound lane of Braewick Drive. While crossing onto Beechnut, the bicycle somehow crossed paths with an eastbound Ford F-350 wrecker truck. The two then collided on Beechnut.
As a result of the collision, the bicyclist sustained fatal injuries. That person has not yet been identified publicly by Harris County officials. No other injuries were said to have occurred. Authorities did not release any particular factors at this time except to say they do not think the truck driver was intoxicated. Beyond this, the factors surrounding the collision are still under investigation.
