Commentary on Deborah Yelverton Truck Accident in Kansas City
Hopefully people don't see that a deer was involved and just take that to mean this all was unavoidable. Maybe it was, of course. One can hardly control animals leaping out into the roadway. But a key factor is going to be how much time passed between the initial collision and the second one and whether or not the victim's disabled vehicle was reasonably avoidable.

There was a crash I handled a while back, for example, where an 18-wheerler hit a disabled car. The truck driver said it was simply too dark to see the victim. However, we were able to go through the courts and pull video evidence which clearly showed that the victim's hazard lights were visible well ahead of time. The driver simply didn't see it because he was too busy watching TV shows on his tablet.
I'm not saying anything so egregious happened here, but it's an example of how vital thorough investigations are after a fatal truck wreck. Otherwise, a grieving family may not be getting the answers they deserve.
