Commentary on Del Rio Man Truck Accident on FM 307 in Midland County
With a crash like this, folks need to ensure they have as much evidence telling their side of the story as possible. Without that evidence, there will likely be too much room for the trucking company to tilt the scales in their favor. They have many ways of doing this, and if victims and families don't anticipate those strategies, they can easily find themselves at a significant disadvantage.
Even in a crash where an 18-wheeler is turning across someone's path, things aren't likely to be simple. Not even that long ago, a family came to me with a crash that had similar details. The company started to blame the victim for driving too fast and not wearing their seatbelt. It took extensive reconstructions of the scene and sworn testimony from rescue workers to prove both of those claims wrong, and only then did the company cooperate.
Keeping this challenge in mind can help people take the steps necessary to get as much evidence as possible to support their side of the story. Are those steps being taken here?
