Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Any commercial truck accident is going to present unique challenges and hurdles. A crash involving two of them will only be that much more complex. It's not just about what actions the drivers may have or may not have taken. There also has to be consideration for the companies involved.
Did they enforce safe driving practices? Did they train their drivers well? Did they hire drivers with a history of reckless behavior? Were the trucks being maintained properly? Failing to ask questions like these is one of the biggest mistakes I see less experienced attorneys make, and it can leave victims and their families out in the wind without the evidence they need to tell their side of the story.
So while the investigations are still early here, it's important not to just assume they're being as thorough as they need to be. That might take more thorough accident reconstructions than authorities alone may be capable of.
