Refugio County, TX — March 22, 2024, Elizabeth Alanis and two others were injured in a car accident at approximately 5:00 p.m. along U.S. 77.
According to authorities, 51-year-old Elizabeth Alanis and a 48-year-old man were traveling in a northbound Nissan Altima on U.S. Highway 77 in the vicinity southwest of the F.M. 1360 intersection when the accident took place.

The weather and road conditions in the area at the time are reported to have been foggy and dry. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southbound Ford F-150 occupied by a 48-year-old man on U.S. 77 attempted a left turn at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to northbound traffic. This resulted in a collision with the oncoming Nissan.
Alanis incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. The man from the Nissan and the man from the pickup truck both suffered apparently moderate injuries, as well. Each of them were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
