Evelyn Clarissa Perez Killed, 2 Injured in Car Accident on Baldwin Boulevard in Corpus Christi, TX
Corpus Christi, TX — March 8, 2024, Evelyn Perez was killed and two were injured following a car accident at around 1:30 a.m. along Baldwin Boulevard.
Authorities said that the incident occurred in the area of the Baldwin Boulevard and Agnes Street intersection.

It appears that a 30-year-old man was driving a Cadillac with two passengers, a 31-year-old man and 34-year-old Evelyn Clarissa Perez. The Cadillac was going southbound on Baldwin when it apparently lost control after crossing the railroad tracks. This led to the Cadillac running off-road where it crashed into a business.
Due to the crash, Perez reportedly sustained fatal injuries. The driver's injuries were reportedly moderate while the other passenger may have had minor injuries. Right now, the exact cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I get calls about accidents like this one quite often, since folks don't usually consider crashes beyond the drivers involved. So when the person killed in the accident was a passenger, what does that mean? Well, one thing to consider is this: How likely is it that a passenger involved in a crash did something to cause that crash? In almost every scenario, the answer is that it's highly unlikely.
There are always exceptions to consider, of course. But generally speaking, if an avoidable crash harms a passenger, someone else is likely on the hook. Whether it's something like mechanical issues, drunk driving, distracted driving, road hazards, manufacturing defects, or just about any other avoidable factor, it will ultimately be up to the evidence to say what happened here and who was responsible.
