Algoma Trucker Killed in Rollover Accident on County Road V in Manitowoc County, WI
Manitowoc County, WI — March 29, 2023, an Algoma man was fatally injured after a semi-truck rollover accident at around 9:30 a.m. on County Road V.
Investigators indicated that the incident happened near the intersection of Tannery Road, north of Two Rivers. It appears that a 36-year-old Algoma man was behind the wheel of a semi-trailer for Algoma Lumber Company. Due to events not clear at this time, the truck ran off the side of the road where it then overturned into a ditch.

The truck driver sustained fatal injuries as a result.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Right now, the cause of the accident remains unconfirmed. Not only will that be important for investigators to clear up, but they may even need to consider whether or not the crash should have been fatal to begin with. Why do I say this?
Put simply, there's a serious issue in the trucking industry that doesn't get enough attention. A lot of rollovers which should be survivable turn fatal because truck manufacturers simply don't care to make the driver's cab strong enough to withstand the weight of the truck. Where some drivers would walk away more or less okay (or at least with their lives), others end up killed due to factors beyond their control.
I'm not saying that happened here, but I at least hope it's something being considered. Making sure as many people know about this issue as possible is a vital step toward preventing other drivers from suffering similar fates in the future.
