Two Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on I-79 near Neville Island, PA
Pittsburgh, PA — September 28, 2023, two people were killed following a semi-truck accident just after midnight Thursday along Interstate 79.
Preliminary details released about the crash indicate that it happened in a construction area along a stretch of interstate between Mt. Nebo Road and Exit 66.

According to current statements from Pennsylvania State Police officials, the crash happened after a tractor-trailer going southbound on I-79 somehow lost control. The truck went across the median and into northbound lanes where it collided head-on with at least one other vehicle.
Due to this collision, both the truck driver and the other driver involved sustained fatal injuries. Details in the news suggest that "other motorists" were taken to the hospital, but the number and the severity of their injuries remain unclear at this time.
No further information about the cause of the crash can be confirmed pending investigations.
